Documenter is built around one promise: your files never leave your device. This page explains, plainly, what that means and how you can verify it.

Everything happens in your browser

When you choose a photo, signature or PDF, the file is read and processed by code running inside your own browser tab — using the same technologies a web page uses to show an image. The resizing, compression and PDF building all run on your device's processor. The result is offered back to you as a download.

There is no upload step. Your document is never sent to Documenter or to any other server, because there is no server involved in processing it.

You can check this yourself

Open your browser's developer tools and look at the Network tab while you convert a file. You will see that no request carries your file's contents anywhere. This is the difference between Documenter and most online converters, which upload your file to a server you cannot see.

What we do and don't collect

• We do not receive, store, or have any access to the documents you process.
• We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name or email to use the tools.
• The site is static. If analytics or advertising are added later, they will be described here before they go live, and they will never have access to your files.

Files you download

Converted files are created in your browser and saved by you to your own device. Documenter keeps no copy because it never had one.
